You have a plan, as we discussed in the previous phase, so you have a good sense of where you are headed. You have a dashboard with metrics that are likely to reflect the upcoming improvements. You completed a couple of pilot projects and there is a good feeling that the Perioperative Services department and the hospital in general have “Proof of Concept”. Your leadership team has been completely trained, so they are much more likely to provide support to the Lean initiative. All staff members have attended a 90 minute introductory session. They are not experts, but they know what to expect and some of them will express special interest in participating in Kaizen events.
Now, it’s time to dive into the lengthy list of improvement opportunities that you and your team developed during the initial assessment and work on those one at a time.
