VSM Lesson 1: Identify the Customer

Welcome to Lesson 1 of the course Value Stream Mapping in the OR. In this series of lessons, we’ll walk you step-by-step through the process of creating a Current State Value Stream Map, coming up with process improvements as a team (based on Lean principles) and developing a Future State Value Stream Map. Creating and implementing an implementation plan is also critical, since we can’t just stop at the Mapping stage. We’re going to start at the very beginning, at the point of identifying the customer, the topic of this lesson.
