The operators should be part of a weekly meeting that measures the amount of acceptance there has been to the new system. See The Idea Generator by Norman Bodek for some ideas on how to set up a suggestion system. A permanent idea board should set up in the area.
At the end of 30 days, publish the performance results. Make sure to compare to the previous results and standards. Also project benefits into the future to show expected savings over a reasonable period of time.
The area should have a Process Owner, someone who will take personal ownership of ensuring that the changes made will be sustained and measured.
Do we have a metric or way of measuring progress in the Kaizen area? “What Gets Measured Gets Done” is the slogan. We also want to be able to show and prove continuous improvement in the area, and for that we will need data.
If any operators have been freed-up, make sure to explain where they have been transferred to, and emphasize that no one has been laid off or released.
